Caley Johnson moved to LA from Colorado to pursue her dream of starting her own costume company. She has no formal fashion training, and now produces these amazing, glamorous, custom headpieces. I had a hard time selecting only one to show off on the blog – but you knew, of course, it was going to be a turquoise/teal/blue one ๐ seriously tho, there’s a number of others in the shop in the same colours – and many more that aren’t, and all are magnificent, and unique. What an inspiration.
Y’know, I pretty much had this exact same headband, bought from a department store in the UK for ยฃ50. I had the opportunity to wear it exactly once – during a visit to the Montreal Burlesque Festival – before, in a hungover stupor, leaving it in our hotel. I called the front desk after realizing my utmost idiocy, but of course I never saw it again. Especially because it was with a beautiful set of black feathered wings. I hope the cleaner who stole my two favorite costume items, had them stolen from her as well! Or that they broke nearly immediately. ๐
So I’m seriously considering replacing the headband and righting that egregious wrong. ๐
I don’t generally wear tiaras. I remember around prom time was when I learned they were even a thing for anyone over 5, but even then I didn’t get one. They are beautiful though, and certainly I’d wear them if I had more opportunities. I suppose I just associate them too much with royalty, and since I’m not, why would I ever don one? Anyway, being an Elven princess sometime is far more within reach than ever being real royalty, so in that case I’d pick up one of these gorgeous tiaras from ElvenstarDesign.
